Are you okay?

Are you okay?

Today is a day to empower everyone to connect with the people around them more meaningfully. It starts with a simple question: Are you okay? 💛

Now more than ever, many of us are feeling overwhelmed and anxious, and it is definitely OK to not be OK. Today is also a reminder that you don’t have to wait until your colleague or loved one is visibly distressed or in crisis to reach out and check in.

Just because we are socially distancing, does not mean we have to remain distant – which is exactly why we decided to start Remote Social back in 2020.

Here at Remote Social, our team is constantly checking in with each other - either through Slack, 1-on-1s, or team meetings. We also have a weekly ritual of playing games together, to eliminate feelings of isolation and to provide a space to chat candidly about our personal lives.

Be brave, be willing to listen, and be compassionate.

Not quite sure how to best start the conversation with your colleague? Here are some ideas.

  • “You’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment. How are you coping?”
  • “Just checking in to see how you’re going?”
  • “I know there have been some major life changes for you recently. How can I help?”

2021 has brought with it many unprecedented experiences, and the least we can do for one another is to stay in touch and remind each other that we are not alone. Genuine care and concern can make a real difference, and it only takes one simple step.
